Your Thought My Thought

Filed under: Uncategorized — abiodun @ 8:02 am

I have been reading a book lately, and I thought I should share some of it contents with you. The book is titled “As A Man Thinketh”

I discovered that the things I think about most of the time gradually develops to become part of me and shapes my lifestyle…..here are excerpt from the book..

“Thought and character are, and as character can only manifest and discover itself thrugh environment and circumstance, the outer conditions of a person’s life will always be found to be harmoniously related to his inner state..”

“The circumstances grow out of thought every man knows who has for any length of time practiced self-control and self-purification, for he will have noticed that the alteration in his circumstances has been in exact ratio with his altered mental condition.”

“Not what he wishes and prays for does a man get, but what he justly earns. His wishes and prayers are only gratified and answered when they harmonize with his thoughts and actions”

On and on do the book talks about our thought pattern. No wonder the holy scripture tell us that “as a man thinketh in his heart, so he his”.. The bible tells us that when one ask concerning a thing, we should not have doubt in our mind…

Above all, I found out that our mind is the battle ground…Let allow God to think through our thought…

What a Life………

Filed under: Uncategorized — abiodun @ 1:59 pm

Uh, it been long…….

I was in the bus going home during the week when I engaged in discussion with some of the guys I do go home with.

What was the basis of our discussion…it was on our past experiences and challenges we faced before we reach this stage we are at present. In which we have every reason to thank god for His faithfulness and mercy.

One narrate is story thus After finishing from private high school, he was trying to gain admission and things were not moving fine for his father, he then decide that he has to do something…he decided to sell Gala and juice in the Hold-up on  Lagos road. It was not fun initially, because he has to drop is fine nature and face the issue of life. One of his uncles saw him, and tears drop in his face …, do odd jobs during university days, and on….” but above all, he is a qualified Architect today, and doing well.

I narrated mine, how I used to sell and hawk goods in my later days of primary school when circumstances of life come calling, how I will go to my mum home town, in high school days to go and harvest tangerine and sell during the market days to raise pocket money for some month back in Lagos, how one of my classmate in high school saw me by the roadside counter selling pepper to make ends meet, and use it against me the next day in school… “Omo iya teacher, alata!!!”…the shame that came with it, but above all, I was not deterred. I was the first student to gain admission to the university in the set. All the odd works I did during vacation to raise little stipends to augment what I will be given on resumption……all and on….., but today, the story is different. I thank God, am doing fine.

uhhh……..what a life…

I decided to share these things because I found out that all He deserves is Thanksgiving. The bible says that the angels ask God, “What is man that thou are mindful of him”. Count your blessing name them one by one and it will surprise you what the Lord has done for you.

No matter the circumstances and challenges in one’s life, it’s not a determinant of where you are going to, where you will be and what you will become. It all comes to you making the CHOICE to rise above your challenge and move forward. Above all, you have to trust in HIM, for He has the key.

Feel free to share yours so we can encourage each other.

Shalom

It Takes Courage

Filed under: Uncategorized — abiodun @ 8:11 am

its been a while that i blogged. i got this piece and thought to share it:

It takes strength to be firm,
It takes courage to be gentle.

It takes strength to conquer,
It takes courage to surrender.

It takes strength to be certain,
It takes courage to have doubt.

It takes strength to fit in,
It takes courage to stand out.

It takes strength to feel a friend’s pain,
It takes courage to feel your own pain.

It takes strength to endure abuse,
It takes courage to stop it.

It takes strength to stand alone,
It takes courage to lean on another.

It takes strength to love,
It takes courage to be loved.

It takes strength to survive,
It takes courage to live.

lets talk about it.

Take the First step

Filed under: Uncategorized — abiodun @ 11:45 am

Its been a while that i blog. i found this article and i feel like blogging it for you to see and feel the impact:

Until one is committed
There is hesitancy, the chance to draw back,
Always ineffectiveness.
Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation),
There is one elementary truth,
The ignorance of which kills countless ideas
And splendid plans: That the moment one definitely commits oneself,
Then Providence moves too.
All sorts of things occur to help one
That would never otherwise have occurred.
A whole stream of events issues from the decision
Raising in one’s favor all manner
Of unforeseen incidents and meetings
And material assistance,
Which no man could have dreamt
Would have come his way.
I have learned a deep respect for one of Goethe’s couplets:
“Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.”

Let me hear  your view on the words.

My ordeal !!!

Filed under: Uncategorized — abiodun @ 11:35 am

A saying goes does in my native language “ki a ma ri ogun akoba adaba” i.e ” May u not see the incident that you know nothing about that will cause problem for you”.

It happens on saturday morning after sanitation, i prepared to go to school for my Post-graduate program. I received a call from one of my mate that there’s traffic along ikorodu road, so she decided i should meet her at Ikosi juction (Motorway B/stop via 7up). I called my friend to informed her that am waiting because I got there earlier and i waited. suddenly, a man in his mid 40s came to my back, tapped me and mention Jide, i was amazed, the 1st thought in my mind was whether he was sent from the person am waiting for and mistake the name, and i was about to asked him when he came to my front and grip my Shirt.

He said i should give him the phone, i was dazed as in which phone was he asking for. i stepped back but he persisted in saying it and crowd begins to gather around me. He said i was with the phone, i was embarrased and i brought out my phones and i told him to call his phone number, in which he said he did but was switched off. People now asked him to call the number, in which he did not. I offload all the content in my bag on the ground, show the people my office ID and my business card. Yet the man continues his false allegation. Then i decided to pull off my Jeans trouser (pant) remaining on my boxer…..uhhh!!!(funny), all to prove my innocence. Then people around have to restrain me and turn allegation on the man. All i could alter to the man throughout was that “God will judge him…..…”in which he said “Amen” to as he continues his false allegation.  After he found out that he was wrong, he quickly cross to the other side and walked away. Then  my friend came to the scene and pick me up, and i left with the people apologizing to me.

Why do i share this? you may ask. I can’t hide the grace and mercy of God over me during that period. I could have been maim or killed for false allegation. I thank God once again. Though it cause tears in my eyes, but i know its the tear of joy.

Watch out for people at the park/Bus-stop moving closer to you and be on the alert.

Lagos Stress!!

Filed under: Uncategorized — abiodun @ 12:12 pm

Hey, its been long i blog,

…….Last week was one of the most stressful week i experienced since i have been working in V/I. From wednesday to Friday, have been involved in one HAZOP meeting to another. I finished each day from to 6 and after 6 pm. Going back to mainland was stressful, having to encounter those hold-up on the way back home…………

This set a thought on my mind on friday,……is this the scenario i will be facing everyday of my working in V/I.  When would one have time for his/her kids during the weekdays when one become a father/mum ?uhh…… or one would become “weekend daddy” which lagos has turn most fathers to…

This has been my thought!!!

No matter how small and unimportant what we are doing may seem, if we do it well, it may soon become the step that will lead us to better things.

What is my mind saying….

Filed under: Uncategorized — abiodun @ 11:24 am

Mindset.!!! This is a word that carries weight in its meaning. I cast my mind back to the children of
Israel, when the 12 spies were set out to spy the land. They came with some good report BUT when its matters most, their mindset overrule their inert potential and strengths. Because of this act, they could not enter the land……am not preaching.

What trips me is that we do allow our mindset to deprive us of benefits and claims that we could lay our hands upon…..am a culprit. I found out that we can quote the scriptures well, memorize it but when it comes to application we allow our mind to rule!!!! If the Israelites had not seen themselves like grasshoppers, they would have entered into the Promised Land long enough.  There are times I asked myself can I achieve this task, am I qualified to attain this level, will I ever be who I want to be, how do I see myself,….and the questions go on and on…

A man once said, “If you can not see the picture, you can’t see the future”. Its dawn on me that the picture one paints in the mind reflects the reality of his life. No matter the challenges, rejection, circumstances, etc.., the clear picture of one’s dream must constantly remain fixed.

Let keep painting the picture of our expectations on our mind, give no room for negative thinking…its hard but we can choose not.. and remain focus.

Have a great week!!

Thank God Is Friday!!!!!!

Filed under: Uncategorized — abiodun @ 4:14 pm

I woke up this morning feeling tired, with my eyes heavy crying for more sleep, but I have to go to work. Still feeling tired, I said Thank God is Friday!! This sounds as the tonic I need.

This has been a regular saying among us. I have friends that always look towards Friday. A puzzle is been raised in my mind that I cannot find the full answer to.

The puzzle is this: We all look toward Friday, it signifies the beginning of weekend; so we can relax, reflect, rest and spent quality time with our loved ones. Rather than achieving this purpose, it seems to be the busiest days of the week. Imagine the parties (marriage, birthday, etc) we attend on Saturdays, this takes a lot of our “man-hour”, classes to attend (those that go to professional class), house cleaning and at the end we are fagged out thinking we will make up with Sunday. On Sunday, we rushed to church to attend classes, workers’ meetings, and early morning services. After church, only to be thinking of preparing for the week ahead; what to wear and ironing, visit salon (have a nice hair cut, do million braids, hair retouch, nail polish, pedicure, manicure, chat …).. “am not against this because you must to look tight and good”… and preparing ready-made stew (by the bros’ and sis) for the week ahead.By the time all this is over, Sunday is gone. Do we really enjoy the weekend???

Am a culprit also, but I think we should try at least to relax in any of those 2 days.

This is the puzzle that I ponder on. Share your own view!!!!!!!

Have a great weekend and blessed week.
